E & D Transport, Inc. is a contract carrier for the transportation of boats. Owner Operators drive their own trucks (1 ton or larger) pulling our trailers to delivery points at dealerships, boat shows, etc. Expenses incurred for these deliveries are paid by the owner operator. These expenses include but are not limited to fuel, oil, maintenance of the truck, tires, and non-trucking insurance (more on that to follow). As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for all federal, state, county and/or city taxes involved. A 1099 form stating the amount paid to you by E & D Transport Inc. will be issued to you at the end of the year. Your expenses may be deductible as a business expense from your taxes, so a copy of the receipt should be kept in your accounting files. E & D Transport, Inc. will pay the owner operator a set rate for loaded miles as computed by PC Miler Streets version 3 practical routing. This routing is available by request with each trip Rates vary by customer and terminal, but are competitive within the industry. We are a non-forced dispatch company, meaning you will not be required to run a specific number of trips in any given month. Some drivers prefer to run only a few loads monthly, while others want to run as many miles as legally possible. Remember, we are a business governed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, so you will be required to complete driver's daily logs and follow those regulations.
